Sandeep Lamichhane received an 8-year prison term in a rape case as pronounced by Shishir Raj Dhakal’s court on Wednesday. The allegation, dating back to January 2023, involved Sandeep being accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. As the legal proceedings unfolded, the situation coincided with Nepal’s cricket team gearing up for the T20 World Cup qualifiers in 2023, with Sandeep serving as the captain. This required Sandeep to travel abroad with the team, adding complexity to the ongoing case.
Sandeep Lamichhane has represented Nepal in 51 ODIs and 52 T20 matches, accumulating 112 wickets in ODIs and 98 wickets in T20 cricket. Beyond his international endeavors, Sandeep has also contributed to the Indian Premier League (IPL), playing for Delhi Capitals and notching up 13 wickets in 9 matches.
