Varun Chakravarthy’s Debut

Although Chakravarthy has not been able to make his pace in the playing XI in this Champions Trophy edition, He debuted for India during the IDFC ODI Series against England in the second ODI match earlier this month. He bowled a 10-over spell and took a crucial wicket of Phil Salt by dismissing him on 26 runs. He got the first breakthrough for India by dismissing one of the openers. He sparred 54 runs and bowled with an economy rate of 5.40. He demonstrated his prowess during the T-20 series against England where he managed to get himself a 5-wicket hall in the 3rd T20I at Rajkot and bagged himselfthe ‘Player of the Match’ title.

Economical Bracewell

Michael Bracewell on the other hand, debuted his ODI campaign for New Zealand against a much humble opponent, the Netherlands. He bowled impressively by giving away just 22 runs in 8 overs spell. He managed to take 1 wicket of Philippe Boissevain. His average was impressive at 2.75 with a maiden over also. In today’s match against Bangladesh, he took 4 wickets which showcased his ability to switch gears and settle in any format of the game.
