During the RCB vs MI match on April 11, Virat Kohli was taken aback by umpire Nitin Menon’s decision. Kohli, watching from the dugout, was visibly upset during the final over of RCB’s batting innings when the umpires did not call a waist-high no-ball against Dinesh Karthik. The incident unfolded in the second delivery of the final over, bowled by Aakash Madhwal to Karthik. Although Karthik made contact with the ball around his waist, he couldn’t execute a big shot. Karthik promptly appealed to the umpire for a review, but his request was turned down.

Many viewers, including Virat Kohli, were left perplexed by the umpire’s decision not to award the no-ball in favor of the batsman. Despite the controversy, Dinesh Karthik remained composed at the crease and went on to strike two sixes and a four off the next four balls bowled by Madhwal. Karthik’s explosive innings of 53 not out from just 23 deliveries propelled RCB to a competitive total of 196/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite the early dismissals of their main batters, Kohli and Glenn Maxwell, RCB managed to reach a respectable score. Kohli was dismissed early in the powerplay after scoring 3 runs off 9 balls, while Maxwell suffered yet another duck in IPL 2024, getting out in the 13th over.

Dinesh Karthik showcased his brilliance with some magnificent shots during the match. His audacious scoops particularly stood out and captured the attention of fans, making them some of the most memorable shots of the season. Karthik’s innovative stroke play left a lasting impression on spectators and added an exciting dimension to the game.

Karthik’s knack for thriving as a finisher this season isn’t a one-off occurrence. Despite encountering challenges in the first match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, he has consistently stepped up to inject momentum whenever the team needed it. His capability to perform under pressure and make significant contributions in the finisher’s role has been praiseworthy throughout the tournament.
