Surya scored his 4000 runs in the IPL through 2714 balls. His achievement surpassed KL Rahul’s previous record by scoring his 4000th run in the IPL during 2820 balls. Former West Indies opener Chris Gayle stands at position number three by needing 2920 balls to achieve the mark. Among all cricketers, Surya holds the 17th position for scoring 4000 runs in the IPL competition. Within the active player lineup, he holds the position of eighth in the achievement of accumulating more than 4000 runs in the world’s richest franchise cricket league.

During the match between MI and LSG, Suryakumar Yadav surpassed 4000 IPL runs by hitting a boundary against Avesh Khan during the second delivery of the 13th over and achieved this milestone before reaching his target of 33 required runs.
Surya can achieve the ranking as the second leading run scorer for Mumbai Indians by breaking Kieron Pollard’s 3412-run mark if he scores 54 runs or more during their present match. Among the Mumbai Indians, the highest number of IPL runs has been scored by Rohit Sharma. Rohit has participated in 221 matches by accumulating 5698 runs with two centuries and 37 half centuries. Besides the Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav participated in matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders across the IPL season.
