Who Is Mallika Sagar?
Mallika Sagar is the first-ever female auctioneer in the history of the Indian Premier League. Sagar took reigns from Hugh Edmeades, who held the position from 2019 to 2022. Sagar first stepped into the role when Edmeades fell unconscious during midway in the IPL 2023 auction and her skills attracted BCCI after which she was brought in with a full-time role.

Mallika Sagar comes from a business family in Mumbai and her passion towards auctions started early in her life. She pursued history from the Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia, USA, before beginning her career in 2001 at the prestigious Christie’s auction house. At 26, she showcased her passion for auctions when she conducted many successful and high-profile auctions. Sagar entered the sporting world when she became the first female auctioneer in the Pro Kabaddi League back in 2021. Her successful debut in the Indian Premier League brought her to limelight.
