The development marks a significance in Pakistan cricket as the captains and head coaches of the men’s Test and limited-overs teams have been axed from the national selection committee. The decision comes after the recent reshuffle of the panel, barely a week after Pakistan’s one-sided innings and 47 runs defeat to England in the first Multan Test.
New Selection Committee Structure
The selection committee earlier consisted of captains, head coaches of the National team, Asad Shafiq, Hasan Cheema, and other officials of the PCB. The committee, however, has been streamlined to five members. The list comprises Aleem Dar, Aaqib Javed, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, and Hasan Cheema. The names of the removed persons have been taken off from the website of PCB.

Babar Azam Controversial Dropping
The reshuffle comes after Shan Masood and Jason Gillespie came out in defense of Babar Azam’s place on the side despite his torrid recent past. Following a score of just 30 and 5 in the first Test, Azam was shockingly left out of the side just two days ahead of the second Test. The decision to leave him out was taken after an extensive discussion by the selection committee with Masood, Gillespie, and Usman Wahla, the PCB’s director for international cricket operations.
Positive Change And Future Challenging Issues
The new selection committee has been well appreciated for their recent selections, notably for debutant Kamran Ghulam who made a century, and off-spinner Sajid Khan who took seven wickets in just one inning-the best figures of a bowler in Multan Tests.
Ahead, look at the announcement of Pakistan’s squads for the ODI and T20I series against Australia in Australia next month. This is a new direction for Pakistan cricket as it looks forward to improvements in its performances on the international front.
