As the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) prepare for their IPL 2024 Eliminator match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), a report has indicated that the team had to cancel their sole practice session due to a security concern involving Virat Kohli. RCB planned to practice at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, but this was called off after security issues emerged.

RCB Forced To Cancel Training Session
According to Anandabazaar Patrika, RCB also skipped the pre-match press conference because of the security threat, causing confusion. The Gujarat Police suggested that the main reason for the cancellations was Virat Kohli’s security. They had arrested four individuals in Ahmedabad on suspicion of terrorist activities.
After the police informed both IPL teams—RCB and RR—about the situation, RCB decided to cancel all scheduled activities, while RR continued with their plans. Enhanced security measures were implemented at RCB’s hotel, restricting even IPL-accredited personnel from entering. Additionally, a ‘green corridor’ was established for the Rajasthan Royals to travel to their training ground, though players like R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Riyan Parag chose to skip the practice session. Captain Sanju Samson arrived late.
Stringent security protocols are expected for the Eliminator match between RCB and RR on Wednesday. With Virat Kohli expected to be the big factor in terms of RCB’s playoff credentials, fans would expect a lot from the India star batter on the night.
