Major League Cricket 2023: The first day of the player draft for the inaugural season of the upcoming T20 American cricket league, Major League Cricket (MLC), concluded on Monday, March 20, at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston. The franchise-based T20 league is being held for the first time in the US as part of the efforts to develop cricket in America.
A total of six teams will participate, with four teams owned by Indian Premier League franchises (Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai). However, unlike in IPL, the franchises in the MLC select players directly through the draft and not through an auction.
As per the rules, 54 American cricketers who are recognised as ‘local players’ have been included in the respective teams, with fifteen of them having represented the US national team at the junior or senior level.

Saiteja Mukkamala has also played for the USA senior national team this year. In addition to him, Saedeep and Sanjay were also selected for the U23.
These six teams are Los Angeles Knight Riders, MI New York, Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings, San Francisco Unicorns and Washington Freedom.
