Major League Cricket 2023: On Monday 20 March, the first day of the player draft for the inaugural season of the upcoming American T20 cricket league, Major League Cricket (MLC), ended at the NASA Johnson Space Centre in Houston. The franchise-based T20 league will be played in the USA for the first time and is part of an effort to develop cricket in America.
Australian cricketer Aaron Finch became the first foreign player to be signed for the Major League Cricket. Finch was one of the six names announced during the draft.
These players will be seen
Australia’s Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh, as well as, Anrich Nortje and Quinton de Kock from South Africa were also drafted. Moreover, Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka was drafted as well.
Finch became the first captain to be appointed by a team. He will take charge of the San Francisco Unicorns.

Finch will be seen with Corey Anderson, Liam Plunkett
The Unicorns have signed Corey Anderson and Liam Plunkett, who both live in the US after marrying Americans. On the other hand, Marsh and De Kock were signed by the Seattle Orcas. Marsh is in the Delhi Capitals team for the 2023 IPL.
Nortje and Hasaranga have been signed for the Washington Freedom, whose franchise has entered into a strategic partnership with Cricket New South Wales.
The six-team league will be played in a simple round-robin format at Grand Prairie in Dallas from July 13 to 30. Of the total 6 franchises participating in the tournament, four are among those owned by IPL franchises.

The tournament will begin in July. With this tournament, the USA will officially enter franchise cricket.
