With Team India set to announce their squad for the remaining 3 Test matches against England on Friday, reports suggest a major body blow to the team as Indian star batter Shreyas Iyer, a key player in the Indian cricket team, might miss the final three Tests against England due to injury concerns.
Recent reports suggest he’s experiencing stiffness in his back and groin pain while batting, potentially sidelining him from the remaining matches. His cricket gear was redirected to his home in Mumbai, indicating his absence from the upcoming games.
“Iyer has informed the Indian team management and the medical staff that his back gets stiff after playing more than 30 balls and he feels pain in his groin while playing forward defence,” a source told The Indian Express.
“Post surgery, he is facing this issue for the first time so he has been advised to rest for a few weeks. He will head to NCA later.” they added.

Iyer may undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru following his previous back surgery in 2023, raising concerns about his fitness ahead of the upcoming IPL season. Additionally, Virat Kohli’s return date to the Indian squad remains uncertain, although selectors plan to include him once he communicates his availability.
Virat Kohli’s Return
Indian star batter Virat Kohli is yet to make his return for the red ball format due to personal reasons and fans are waiting for BCCI to clear the air around the star players’ involvement.
“Virat will decide when he wants to make a comeback to the Indian side. He hasn’t informed us till now but whenever he decides to play, he will be included in the team,” a BCCI official was quoted.
“While representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention. The BCCI respects his decision and the Board and team management has extended its support to the star batter,” they further added.
