Indian batter Nitish Rana was picked by the Rajasthan Royals for a price of INR 4.20 crores in the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction. Nitish played the last few editions of the cash-rich for the Kolkata Knight Riders and also led the side in 2023 under the absence of Shreyas Iyer. However, the latter was released by KKR just ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction. Nitish has showcased a lot of promise while playing for KKR and has won many games by playing some match-winning knocks and now will look to perform well for the Rajasthan Royals as well.

Despite his contributions for the Kolkata Knight Riders, the franchise didn’t retain him or bid for him in the IPL 2025 auction. Nitish Rana’s wife Saachi Marwah shared a post on her official social media handle and took an indirect loyalty dig at the franchise. It read, “Loyalty is very expensive, not everyone can afford it.” Rana also didn’t resist in showcasing his opinion and posted and Instagram story which read, “Royal-ty is pink!”

Three franchises included Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals were very keen in roping in Nitish Rana in their squad. CSK went for the first Rana and was presented a base price of INR 1.50 crores. Super Kings soon found them in a bidding war with Rajasthan Royals before the Royal Challengers Bengaluru also joined. At the end, the inaugural Indian Premier League champions ended emerging victorious in the bidding war by offering a price of INR 4.20 crores.
