New Delhi: Real Madrid defeated AC Milan 3-2 in the pre-season game at the Rose Bowl Stadium on Tuesday. A mistake by AC Milan saw Real Madrid pull off a stunning comeback in the second half to win 3-2.
AC Milan take control
AC Milan played great in the first half with a lot of character, ideas and creativity. AC Milan dodged Real’s early attacks and then created their own chances. The Los Blancos got off to a good start when Valverde swerved wide in the seventh minute.
Two minutes later, Pulisic found Messias at the back post, but Mendy headed him back. Our aggressive pressing forced Real to make defensive mistakes. Colombo tried to capitalize on the mistake, but the shot went just over the bar (17′).
Tomori opens Milan’s account
AC Milan made it 1-0 in the 25th minute when Tomori broke the deadlock with a powerful header and scored a corner from Pulisic. Messias had the chance to score a second goal a little later, but it went wide. The Brazilian was then pushed off the field and replaced by Romero, who scored an impressive goal from distance with just two touches (42′).
That, too, was thanks to some great football performances, including Krunic’s recovery, Loftus-Cheek’s heel-heel, Calabria’s touch and Luquita’s unstoppable shot. AC Milan cut the lead in half and leveled within minutes, both due to AC Milan mistakes, both goals scored by Valverde. Sportiello couldn’t stop an unstoppable shot in the 57th minute, but a mistake by Tomori left Uruguay free two minutes later, making it 2-2.
AC Milan’s substitution
Pioli made a big substitution in the 70th minute. Suddenly he brought in Maignan, Saeremachers, Kjær, Tiau, Theo, Adli, De Queteraere, first-timers Lijnders, Leo and Giroud.
The Rossoneri fought back and Leo, wearing the number 10 shirt for the first time, set up a header for Giroud, but the Frenchman was denied by Lunin. Rafa then played for Lijnders, but Alaba rebounded and Romero scored from close range.
AC Milan were on the mend, but Vini Jr. beat Kjær at half-time to make it 3-2. In the 90th minute, Giroud successfully scores a free-kick just wide of the goal.
