After missing two matches, the Argentine star played a decisive role in Inter Miami’s 3-1 comeback win over Orlando City in the Leagues Cup semifinal, scoring twice and leading his team to yet another final.
Early Struggles as Orlando Takes Control
Inter Miami seemed out of sync during the first half, with Orlando City controlling the pace and attempting most of the scoring opportunities. All their pressure finally paid off at the stroke of halftime, when Croatian midfielder Marco Pasalic scored to put Orlando ahead by a deserved 1-0 margin. The Herons were left with more questions than answers as the halftime whistle was blown.

Miami fought harder in the second half, fueled by desperation. During stoppage time, Telasco Segovia capped it with a quick strike, securing an unforgettable 3-1 triumph and qualifying Inter Miami for the Leagues Cup final for the second year running.

Pursuing a Third Title with the Herons
Messi has already played a crucial role in Miami’s 2023 Leagues Cup triumph, where he scored in the final against Nashville, Messi now eyes his third trophy with the club. He also led the Herons to the 2024 Supporters’ Shield, awarded to the team with the best regular-season record across both MLS conferences.
With another final coming up, Messi and Inter Miami are again on the cusp of silverware, this is also his second final in four years.
