New Delhi: Kylian Mbappe has turned down a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. According to L’Equipe, a special envoy from the Arab club visited Paris this week and tried to persuade the striker, but to no avail.
Kylian Mbappe rejects Al-Hilal offer
The Frenchman has told the club he has no intention of leaving to play in Saudi Arabia for a year. Earlier, Al Hilal had made a $330 million written offer to PSG for Mbappe.
The 24-year-old striker is sticking to the idea of ending his contract with PSG, with the club wanting to sell him this summer and recoup some of the huge investment they made last May to keep him in Paris.
Mbappe eyes on Real Madrid
The striker’s decision means that, for many in Paris, an agreement has been reached for Mbappe to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, thereby recovering the remainder of his contract and the signing bonus he will receive from the Los Blancos next summer. It was proof that, the decision to stay in Paris carries significant risks for Kylian. Luis Enrique could alienate him, but not ideal considering the euro is next summer.
He is the captain of the French national team and dreams of competing in the Paris Games. If he goes to Saudi Arabia he can play and then he can go to Real Madrid for free if he wants.
Premier League’s clubs also want to sign Mbappe
But he doesn’t seem convinced that Al-Hilal’s offer is best for him. Real Madrid are still waiting and several Premier League clubs have already called PSG, but the player appears to have his sights firmly set on the Spanish side.
It’s no secret that Mbappe grew up rooting for Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo. Rumors of a move to the Santiago Bernabéu had been circulating for years, but never materialized.
