“The Indian team management has requested Kuldeep Yadav’s release from the T20I series in Australia to participate in the India A series against South Africa A at Bengaluru’s BCCI Centre of Excellence. The second four-day match begins on November 6. This step is taken to provide him with valuable red-ball game time in preparation for the IDFC First Bank two-match Test series against South Africa,” the BCCI said in an official statement.
Kuldeep featured in the first two T20I matches against Australia, claiming two wickets in the second game, while the opening match was abandoned due to heavy rain.
India A has already played one match against South Africa A, with the visitors emerging victorious thanks to a brilliant 90 from captain Rishabh Pant. India A currently leads the two-match series 1-0, and the second match will take place next Thursday at the BCCI CoE grounds in Bengaluru.
The India vs South Africa Test series will kick off at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on November 14 and run until November 18. The second Test will be held in Guwahati from November 22 to 26. Following the Test series, both teams will face each other in a three-match ODI series.
Kuldeep’s release highlights India’s strategy to fine-tune their red-ball resources while ensuring he gets ample match practice ahead of the crucial Test series.
