The domestic red-ball season of the country has begun, with several players competing for attention and opportunities in diverse tournaments. For a few, it has been a drive to catch the eye of selectors for the Indian Test team. For others, it is to make a name in the domestic circuit, particularly in the premier Ranji Trophy.
Arjun Tendulkar’s Masterclass Bowling
The 24-year-old fast bowler Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, playing for Goa, Tendulkar put on an extraordinary show in the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, now simply KSCA Invitational.

Against Karnataka in a match in which Goa CA XI posted a comprehensive innings victory by an innings and 189 runs, Tendulkar came out the most impressive of them all, taking nine wickets in the match. He could manage only 5/41 in the first innings itself, Karnataka folded for a paltry 103 in 36.5 overs. Goa piled up a massive 413 with Abhinav Tejrana’s century (109) and Manthan Khutkar’s 69 to see him pass his hundred and 69 respectively. Left with an arduous task of bridging a gap of 310 runs, Karnataka suffered a batting collapse to be bowled out for 121 in just 30.4 overs and Tendulkar added 4/46 from his 13.3 overs.
During the 2022/23 season, he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Goa. In that season, Tendulkar played 13 first-class games and picked up 21 wickets at an average of 45.19.
