Kolkata captain Shreyas Iyer was fined Rs 12 lakh by IPL organizers for the team’s slow over-rate during their recent match against Rajasthan at Eden Gardens. This marks KKR’s first over-rate offense in the IPL 2024 season.
The match between KKR and RR concluded around 11:35 pm, well beyond the scheduled finish time, partly due to the hot and humid conditions in Kolkata that evening. Both teams took their time, especially during RR’s thrilling chase. Jos Buttler’s remarkable century, despite battling cramps, is being hailed as one of the greatest in IPL history.
Buttler wins top-of-the-table clash for RR
Leading his team against Buttler’s onslaught was challenging for Shreyas Iyer, especially considering the latter’s initial struggle. However, Buttler’s explosive performance in the final overs, scoring an unbeaten 107 off 60 balls, propelled RR to match their record for the highest successful chase in IPL history, reaching the target of 224 runs.
