Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Ajinkya Rahane has made it abundantly clear that he’s starved for a comeback to the Indian national team. Yesterday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain revealed his wish to secure a return through good showings. And today, during match no.52 of IPL 2025, he’ll get the ideal platform to make an announcement.
Rahane’s KKR will face the Rajasthan Royals in a high-pressure game at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata. With 9 points from 10 games, including 4 victories and 1 no result, KKR are currently 7th on the points table. As the playoff battle intensifies, the team requires a vital win in their 11th game to remain in the running and much of the onus will rest on their captain’s shoulders.

Rahane Set for Historic IPL Milestones
Rahane is also on the brink of becoming part of a rare club in IPL history. The veteran right-handed batsman has scored 4,939 runs from 180 innings in 195 IPL games till date. A score of 61 runs today would make him only the ninth player to reach the milestone of 5,000 runs in the competition.
Also, with just 27 more runs, he will surpass both Chris Gayle (4,965) and Robin Uthappa (4,952) on the list of all-time top run-scorers in IPL history. These milestones would not only cement his legacy but also send a strong message about his continued relevance in top-crust cricket.
