The first match of IPL 2025 at Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed Karun Nair launch a remarkable knock of 89 runs from 40 balls after his season debut for Delhi Capitals against Mumbai Indians. The very first ball of the match discarded Jake Fraser-McGurk from his technique to open against Delhi. Once Karun Nair entered the game at No.3 position as a substitution batter he launched an astounding batting assault. Playing against the dangerous line-up of Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult, Nair showed no fear at the plate. The right-hander swung hard at Bumrah at the start of his batting segment to score twenty-six runs off nine quick deliveries.

Appreciation For Karun Nair
In the first 22 balls Nair achieved 50 runs which enabled Delhi Capitals to reach 72/1 in the powerplay phase with a controlled required run rate. His attacking batting against Boult and Chahar sustained the positive momentum that received strong appreciation from both fans and sports analysts. Analyst Harsha Bhogle declared that Nair interpreted Bumrah just like he studied from a textbook when the opener thrived in the power play. In the 12th over Mitchell Santner dismissed Nair with the score at 100 but the batter maintained a total of 17 fours alongside 5 sixes.
MI Innings
Mumbai Indians accumulated a total of 205/5 runs when the batting team opted to begin. Both Tilak Varma and Ryan Rickelton scored 59 and 41 runs during the match with Suryakumar Yadav ending at 40. With his late play of 38 from 17 balls Naman Dhir assisted MI to reach the milestone of 200. Kuldeep Yadav together with Vipraj Nigam claimed two wickets for the Delhi side during the match. Karun Nair’s big-hitting performance during the peak of an exciting match kept Delhi competing against Mumbai’s challenging start from the bowling side.
