Priya, an 18-year-old footballer whose right leg had to be amputated seven days ago after surgery for a ligament tear, died on Tuesday morning. She died in a government hospital from multi-organ failure following surgery.

When family and football fans learned about the incident, they claimed it was a case of medical negligence that resulted in the teenager’s death. In this regard, Twitterati have begun to demand ‘Justice for Priya.’

According to reports, Priya was admitted to the Government Peripheral Hospital in Periyar Nagar for knee surgery (right leg). Following health complications, she was transferred to Chennai’s Rajiv Gandhi Government hospital last Tuesday.

According to medical reports, footballer Priya died as a result of complications in her liver, heart, and kidney. Thus, after receiving the body, the teenage footballer’s family began protesting, demanding that the police take immediate action in this matter.

According to her brother, she had complained of leg pain to the doctor, but she was dismissed.

Following the incident, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma. Subramanian promised legal action. The footballer was admitted to RGGGH’s Intensive Care Unit, according to the health minister, and “her loss cannot be compensated, and strict action will be taken against those responsible.”

He also announced a solatium of Rs 10 lakh for Priya’s family and stated that a member of the family will be given a government job.
