It looks like WWE icon John Cena’s father has a particular opinion about the retirement match of his son. The Last Time is Now Tournament of Cena has been moving forward at a fast pace, and the two finalists are LA Knight and Gunther. This coincides with the speculation of The Ring General probably being the Cenation Leader’s last enemy at the forthcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Cena Sr. rejects idea of Gunther facing his son in final WWE match
Nevertheless, Cena Sr. is against the concept of Gunther participating in Cena’s final match in the ring. While he was guesting on the All Axxess Podcast, the father of the WWE star commented that
“Well it certainly wouldn’t be Gunther, that’s for sure. I don’t think that’s a wise move. I don’t think the fans would enjoy that move. Myself personally, Gunther does not need the rub. And by the way I am not a fan of, on the way out you have got to push somebody over the top. You’re supposed the pass ‘the torch.’ I don’t know whether that’s written anywhere in professional wrestling.”
Punk calls Gunther the toughest competitor left in the field
Even though CM Punk had previously won a match against Gumther, he continues to regard the latter as undefeated at this point in the tournament, which is to eventually determine the last opponent of John Cena. Punk, during the Up & Adams Show, acknowledged Gunther’s wrestling talent and strength and added
“Perfect probably would have been me. Who is the perfect opponent that’s actually in the field? I mean, right now, I don’t know if it’s perfect, but it’s looking like Gunther because I’ve been in the ring with him, and I know what he can do, and I don’t know who else in that tournament can beat him right now.”
Two top contenders prepare for a thrilling tournament decider
The Ring General certainly appears to be the king of the ring, however, LA Knight is also a tough competitor. It will be a thrilling challenge to find out who prevails in the showdown of the WWE Last Time Is Now Tournament finals.
