John Cena deserves a better farewell – THIS former WWE star criticizes booking of last tour

John Cena’s farewell tour has divided fans, and now former rival David Otunga has shared his disappointment with WWE’s handling of the legend’s final run.

With Cena’s final appearance on Raw now behind him, the legendary superstar has just two matches left in his career. He’ll defend the Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series on November 29, before closing the curtain for good at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

WWE’s booking of Cena’s final run has sparked plenty of debate this year, and now David Otunga has added his voice to the mix. Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Otunga admitted he’s disappointed with how Cena’s farewell has played out.

“Honestly, I wish it would’ve been a little more exciting,” he said. “I don’t think it was what people expected. I wanted him to have a farewell tour like Kobe. Kobe’s farewell tour was incredible, and Cena deserves that. Let’s be honest, he calls himself the greatest of all time, and he’s not necessarily wrong.”

Otunga also shared his thoughts on Cena’s final Raw match at Madison Square Garden, where Cena competed in a six-man tag. While he acknowledged it was “cool,” he felt WWE missed an opportunity.

“I would’ve preferred to see him in a one-on-one match that really showcased who John Cena is,” Otunga said. “Give us that classic Cena moment on Raw.”

Otunga and Cena have plenty of history, feuding during the Nexus storyline and even winning the Tag Team Championships together at Bragging Rights in 2010, only to lose the titles the very next day.
