Jay Shah was recently appointed as the new International Cricket Council chairman, this has garnered a lot of attention and the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Mohsin Naqvi also opined about it. Shah’s elevation to the role has not raised any concerns for Naqvi.
Jay Shah, The New ICC Chairman
Shah was elected unanimously last month, replacing Greg Barclay, who did not seek a third term. The rise of Shah to the position is notable, as Shah became the youngest member to this enviable position and is now part of the list of prominent Indians that have headed the Board, including Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar.

“We are in touch with Jay Shah; there are no concerns about his becoming ICC Chairman. The ACC meeting is on September 8 and 9,” Naqvi told reporters, as quoted from Geo News.
Naqvi Opines About The Upcoming ACC Meeting
Naqvi also commented on the forthcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting, where the selection of the new ACC president will be on the agenda. Although Naqvi will not be present at the meeting, he announced that Salman Nasir will stand in for Pakistan as the representative.
“I will not be able to attend the meeting, and Salman Nasir will attend. The meeting will finalise matters related to the new president,” the PCB chairman said.
Champions Trophy 2025
Now that Jay Shah will be taking on the mantle as the ICC chairman from December 1, 2024, Pakistan is all geared up to host ICC Champions Trophy in the upcoming year. For that, major venues, like Karachi’s National Stadium, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, are all getting massive uplifts so as to reach the required high standards for hosting such an esteemed event.

Pakistan will be hosting the ninth edition of ICC Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9, 2025.
