The Champions Trophy 2025 rift between India and Pakistan was finally solved after the ICC (International Cricket Council) gave its green flag to the hybrid model. The tournament which is set to be played in February-March 2025, wherein India will be playing its matches in some other country than Pakistan whereas other matches will be hosted in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi. Pakistan are the defending champions of the eight-team marquee tournament and were earlier set to solely host the tournament. However, after BCCI’s refusal to travel to its neighbouring country, sparked all the controversy.

While several cricket experts criticised PCB’s move to accept the hybrid model whereas former Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad praised the step. He believed that PCB has earned quite more than BCCI and weighed on the fact that Pakistan is hosting a major ICC event after a long time. He said as quoted by PTI, “I think the PCB took the sensible approach and, instead of doing something rash and facing isolation from the ICC and other cricketing nations, opted for a solution where I believe the PCB has gained more than the BCCI.”

Javed Miandad added, “Still, Pakistan is hosting a major event after a very long time, and we have sent a clear message that if you don’t come and play in our country, we will also not play in India.”
As the rift regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 been solved, the ICC is expected to soon release the schedule of the eight-team tournament.
