Shubman Gill makes his first appearance as India Test captain at the pre-departure press conference in Mumbai, where he was accompanied by head coach Gautam Gambhir, ahead of India’s tour of England. The India-England Test series gets underway on 20 June, and the Gill-led squad will be playing an intra-squad game with India A for warm-up before the main event. At the press conference, both captain Shubman Gill and head coach Jasprit Bumrah told the media that they are not aware whether Bumrah will play in which 3 matches.

He told the media that it will be completely his call. This will depend only on his fitness and his will to play further in the series. The call for Bumrah’s availability will be made as the Test series progresses.

Bumrah’s Injury
Jasprit Bumrah sustained a back injury sustained in the final Border-Gavaskar Test match against Australia in Sydney, which has kept him sidelined since, even ruling him out of India’s triumphant Champions Trophy campaign.
