Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah single-handedly led Team India’s charge in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Bumrah ended up becoming the Player of the Series with 32 wickets from five matches at an average of under 14. The latter proved out to be a nightmare for the Australian batters, however, he didn’t receive enough support from the other end due to which Team India lost the BGT series by 3-1. Bumrah also sustained back spasms during the first innings of the fifth Test due to which he couldn’t bowl in the second innings of the match.

Now, as per a report by PTI, Jasprit Bumrah can be rested from the upcoming India vs England T20I series in order to preserve him for the Champions Trophy. Bumrah’s back spasm is in grade level 1 which needs around two weeks of rest before returning to play on the field. The India vs England T20I series is beginning from January 22. However, if his injury is of grade 2 then he may surely miss the ODI series as well ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2024. The major eight-team marquee tournament will begin from February 20.
