Stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah led from the front on Friday in the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. He picked four Australian wickets including, the prized wicket of Steven Smith to put India in a decisive position at the end of Day one as the hosts are reeling at 67/7.
Netizens went into a frenzy after Team India’s brilliant bowling performance and Bumrah being the wrecker-in-chief. Several former cricketers like Wasim Jaffer also lauded Bumrah for a terrific display of fast bowling on the Perth wicket.

India’s sensational bowling performance
After India were bowled out for 150 runs in their first innings, the onus was on bowlers to keep the visitors in the game. Bumrah provided the first breakthrough as he picked the wicket of opener Nathan McSweeney. He followed that with the scalps of Usman Khawaja and Smith and Australia were 19/3 by the seventh over.
The hosts couldn’t breathe easy as No.5 Travis Head fell to debutant Harshit Rana. Thenafter, Mohammed Siraj scalped the wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Marnus Labuschagne to bring Australia to 47/6. Bumrah then picked the wicket of Aussie skipper Pat Cummins to rub salt into the wounds.
