Tokyo: After a disappointing campaign at BWF World Championships, Indian shuttlers are now participating in the Japan Open Super 750. HS Prannoy has achieved an accomplishment as he advances in the pre-quarterfinals of the tournament.
Prannoy was playing against Ng Ka Long Angus of Hong Kong in the men’s singles event of the tournament. Angus announced himself retired hurt in the mid-game and gave Prannoy the chance to directly qualify for the second round.

The India shuttler is now set to fight against world champions Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in the pre-quarterfinals and the fight wouldn’t be easy for the unseeded India player.
Earlier in the months, Prannoy has participated in Commonwealth Games and recently concluded World Championships. The 30-year-old had a brilliant run in the WC when he defeated two-time world champion Kento Momota and his fellow-country CWG gold medalist Lakshya Sen.
However, he couldn’t get past the quarter-finals as China’s Zhao Junpeg defeated him to move forward.
