Jahanara Alam’s explosive claim on BCB official – shockwaves in Bangladesh cricket

Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed in a statement released on November 6, that it would take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation.

The former Bangladesh women’s cricketer Jahanara Alam made an allegation on BCB official earlier on for inappropriate behaviour. But BCB has announced that it will form a committee to investigate the matter.

Alam who currently stays in Australia, revealed in an interview with journalist Riasad Azim that a former selector behaved inappropriately toward her when he served as the women’s team selector and manager. She further claimed that some BCB officials also acted inappropriately and asked her lewd questions.

The issues came into focus when the current Bangladesh women’s skipper Nigar Sultana that she physically abuses her teammates, but later the issue was scrapped by the board, calling it ‘baseless’.

BCB to solve this issue within 15 days

Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed in a statement released on November 6, that it would take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has noted with concern the allegations reported in the media made by a former member of the Bangladesh national women’s cricket team regarding alleged misconduct by certain individuals associated with the team,” the BCB statement read.

As the matter is of a sensitive nature, the BCB has decided to form a committee to investigate the allegations thoroughly. The committee will submit its findings and recommendations within 15 working days. The BCB is committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and professional environment for all its players and personnel. The Board takes such matters with utmost seriousness and will take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation,” the statement read.
