As the row on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is still, BCCI is still pretty much rigid on not playing the tournament scheduled to be held in Pakistan, whereas PCB has also not taken a backfoot and are firm on hosting the competition in their country itself. Several reports arise on daily basis wherein on one end there are claims that ICC is trying to convince the Pakistan Cricket Board to host the tournament under the hybrid model. On the other hand, there were also reports that the officers from both the cricket boards are expected to hold a meeting and discuss issues related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Basit Ali’s Big Claim On ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali while speaking on his YouTube channel stated that the broadcasters won’t agree if the Champions Trophy is held under the hybrid model. Basit added that if the Champions Trophy is held under hybrid model, India and Pakistan won’t be in the same group which will make the tournament a ‘tasteless dish’. He said, “What did I tell you about the Champions Trophy… Broadcaster isn’t agreeing to (hybrid model or India and Pakistan in different pools and it won’t. If there is no India-Pakistan match in a tournament, then it would be like a tasteless dish.”

“PCB has played its cards very well, well done! If you want to go ahead with the Hybrid Model, do it. But India and Pakistan won’t be in the same pool, and Pakistan will play all their matches at home. Mohsin Naqvi is quietly sitting now. He has played his cards correctly”, Basit Ali added.
However, the International Cricket Council is yet to make a decision on the ICC Champions Trophy and was reported to release the schedule of the tournament by the end of this week. However, as the circumstances are set, it is very unlikely for ICC to release the schedule at the current time.
