Cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar lauds the Indian Women’s team coach Amol Muzumdar by saying that Indian coaches are still better than all other coaches and it has been proved once again. A man who has never played in the senior men team, was able to coach the women to the World Cup glory. One could clearly see the relationship between Muzumdar and Harmanpreet as the two leaders managed to lead India to one of their best victories in the sport.
Sunil Gavaskar’s Statement Praising the Indian Coaches
“The determination shown by the women was remarkable. If one may be permitted to say so, it was the ‘khadoos attitude’ famously associated with Mumbai cricket. Coach Amol Muzumdar, being a Mumbaikar, must have influenced it a great deal, for bouncing back after losing three close games was nothing short of extraordinary.
“The win once again emphasised-if emphasis were ever needed-that sporting intelligence wins trophies, not fancy degrees from universities. It also reinforces the belief that it will invariably be Indian coaches who get the best results, for they know the players-their strengths, weaknesses and temperament-and understand the nuances of Indian cricket better than any foreigner, however accomplished he or she may be,” he said as per the reports of India Today.
India’s Campaign In The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025
India had a fantastic start in the tournament where they defatted Sri Lanka and arch rival Pakistan in the first two games. In the third match tables turned for team India as they lost three consecutive matches against South Africa, England and Australia. This didn’t let team India’s moral down, in the crucial game against New Zealand the women in blue showed prowess and convincingly won the game against the Kiwis, with this win they were through to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals they faced the former world champions Australia in Navi Mumbai.
Things looked tough for team India, thanks to the innings of Jemmimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur majestic knocks, India knocked Australia out of the world cup and made their way to the finals. In the finals they faced South Africa, who were playing their first women’s world cup final. India secured their maiden women world cup victory by beating South Africa by 52 runs in the final. It was the first maiden title of India and team India with Harmanpreet Kaur majestic knocks at the helm at last won it through the efforts of the entire team.
