Mumbai Indians’ star performer Ishan Kishan has found his form yet again after a considerable spell out of action for both Team India and his domestic teams. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter scored a swashbuckling knock of 69 runs off just 39 deliveries as MI got the better of Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru on the night.

However, the big news surrounding the player is that he is not looking to impress the BCCI selectors anymore and is not interested in getting back into the Indian cricket team anymore. Following MI’s win against RCB, Ishan Kishan addressed the media in the post-match press conference and said that he was not looking to impress anyone and just wanted to perform for his IPL team at the moment.
Ishan’s Big Statement
“There is nothing like that [that] I want to prove to someone. I just have to go there and enjoy. I have learned that you do not have to add pressure on yourself about these things, which are not in your hand. You have to figure out what are [your] controllables and what are [your] uncontrollable.” he said.
“If I were the old Ishan Kishan, I might not have left the good deliveries in the first two overs [against RCB]. I would have been under pressure. But with time I have learned that even 20 overs are a lot and you can take your time. You can have the belief and move forward. So all these things helped me in that break also. Now we lost some games here, but I feel most of the players, not just me, were keen to work with everyone. It was never about us individually performing well for the team and not knowing what other players were going through. So I also know if someone is not doing well, how they feel.” he added.
With the T20 World Cup 2024 on the horizon, it will be interesting to see how things unfold for the young Indian wicketkeeper-batter who will give his best in the IPL to make heads turn and get shortlisted in the squad for the quadrennial event this year.
