The RR’s pacer bowler Sandeep Sharma has talked about how the team’s skipper’s injury absence along with their team’s frequent fielding failures and batting struggles as main factors that have hurt the team in IPL 2025. RR has suffered their fifth consecutive defeat during their match against RCB on according to Sharma. He blamed both the dropped catches and the batting ensemble’s inability to perform better while noting that Sanju Samson’s experience would have made their poor season bearable.
Sharma’s Views On The Skipper’s Absence
“Obviously, his absence has been felt. He’s a very experienced captain and player, and as a batsman, he’s very smart. So yes, his absence has definitely been felt. He didn’t captain the first three matches, and after that, he got a side injury again. Obviously, all this is costing us. All these things have come together and are pulling the team down,” Sharma said.

RR’s Performance With Sanju Samson
Throughout the season Samson participated in seven matches where he accumulated 224 runs with both his average exceeding 30 and his strike rate reaching 140. The Royals experience a significant gap in middle-order batting and leadership due to his absence from the field. This is not an exemplary stats for a player but still the pacer bowler Sharma thinks that the team has faced a growing pressure because their captain was not available during this game.
