Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma: The Champions Trophy 2025 could prove to be the last ICC tournament for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Recently, both of them announced their retirement from the format after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. Due to this, both of them will not be seen in the T20 World Cup of 2026.
The chances of both the players remaining in the team till the World Cup in 2027 are very less. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has also mentioned this on his YouTube channel. According to him, this could be the last ICC tournament for both the players as well as Jadeja.

Will Virat and Rohit’s Journey End?
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said about the place of both the players in the team till the 2027 World Cup, “The 2027 World Cup is still far away, I think and the players must also feel that the Champions Trophy could be their last ICC event. There is a high possibility that these three will not be able to play till the 2027 World Cup. The question is whether Indian cricket will be able to function without them.”

There Will Be discussion On Rohit’s future
Reports are claiming that after the Champions Trophy, the BCCI will talk to Rohit Sharma about his future. However, reports are also claiming that the management is not concerned about Virat Kohli’s ODI career. In such a situation, if Team India wins the tournament, then these three legends can be seen retiring from ODIs as well.
Who Will Take Their Place?
If names like Virat, Rohit and Jadeja are out of your team, then the biggest question will be who will be able to replace them. Finding a replacement for these players will also be a big challenge for the management. Chopra said that “even if the selectors have better options for these players, they will have to think twice before going in this direction.”
