Mumbai Marines were crowned as the winners of opening edition of the Big Cricket League 2024. Irfan Pathan and Co were able to chase down 211 runs with seven wickets to spare wherein Jesal Karia and Manan Sharma played match deciding knocks to guide their teams towards victory. Mumbai Marines batters smashed the Southern Spartans batters to all the parts of the ground and chased down the big target in the final match with ease. India have witnessed many successful triumphs in the year 2024, whether it be the 2024 T20 World Cup win or the World Chess Olympiad. Players celebrated the trophy win in a unique style. Indian captain Rohit Sharma walked in famous wrestler Rick Flair style towards the T20 World Cup trophy whereas the Indian chess players followed the same celebration pattern.

Rick Flair once again came into limelight when Mumbai Marines captain Irfan Pathan went towards the trophy by walking in same style after winning the Big Cricket League final against Southern Spartans. The video for the same went viral on the social media.

Getting back to the match, batting first, Southern Spartans put up a total of 210/6 in 20 overs. Phil Mustard and Suresh Raina played innings of 78 and 51 runs respectively. Shivam Kumar and Manpreet Gony picked up two wickets apiece whereas Malinda Pushpakumara picked up one wicket. On the other hand, Manan Sharma led Mumbai Mariners chase and played an innings of 89 runs from 42 balls. Jesal Karia also chipped in with an innings of 75 runs from 39 balls.
