Rohit Sharma’s successful captaincy spell for the Mumbai Indians has been nothing but commendable, with the 37-year-old winning 5 titles under his astute leadership.
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan agrees with the fact and compared his Indian Premier League (IPL) legacy to that of captain Cool and long-time Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni.
“Rohit Sharma has a huge stature in the team. For me, Rohit Rohit Sharma’s stature in Mumbai Indians is similar to that of Dhoni’s stature in CSK. Rohit Sharma has built the team with blood and sweat as captain he has contributed a lot, always involved in the team meetings.” Irfan said while speaking to Star Sports.
“He is an amazing captain, a bowler’s captain. Last year despite (Jofra) Archer’s form and Bumrah not being there, Rohit still had a great season as a captain.” he added.

Rohit & MSD going shoulder-to-shoulder
Both Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni have won 5 IPL ttitles under their leadership with the most recent one coming for MS Dhoni last season.
With Hardik Pandya at the helm now, it will be interesting to see him trying to fill Rohit’s big shoes in a team where he once played under him as an promising youngster.
“Now, with SKY, Bumrah and Rohit being there, who have performed leadership roles at international level, it will be a challenge for Hardik. The result lies in management for MI and Hardik. It won’t be easy for him.” Irfan further added.
