Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi who was a part of the Indian team during the 2020 Under 19 World Cup in South Africa has made rapid strides in international cricket. The leg spinner made a name for himself with his impressive performances in the Under-19 World Cup and was picked by Punjab Kings in the 2020 IPL auction. Bishnoi was shining light in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the KL Rahul-led side for two years in a row. He was then picked by Lucknow Super Giants before the 2022 auction and has been a vital part of the team since then. Bishnoi was rewarded for his consistent performances when he was picked in the Indian team for the home series against West Indies in 2022. The leg spinner has been a permanent member of Team India, especially in the T20 format.
Arshdeep Singh
The left-arm fast bowler from Punjab was a part of the 2018 Under-19 World Cup-winning Indian team led by Prithvi Shaw. Unlike his fellow fast bowlers Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi both of whom became the talk of the town after the multination tournament, Arshdeep had to wait for his time as he had two quiet IPL seasons following the high of the World Cup win. But as they say, good things take time Arshdeep kept on delivering for Punjab Kings in the IPL, especially in the death overs with his accurate yorkers which caught everyone’s attention. The fast bowler earned the reward for his consistent performances in T20s as he received his maiden India call-up when the Rohit Sharma-led side toured England in 2022. Arshdeep hasn’t looked back since then and was an integral part of the team during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh is one of those players who has earned his spot in the team the hard way. Although he has been part of the Kolkata Knight Riders since 2018 it took him five years to earn a spot in the team. Before 2023, Rinku used to come in as a substitute fielder and contribute in the field by taking stunning catches and saving important runs. The left-hander’s impressive performance on the field combined with the team’s poor run of form since 2019 helped Rinku book a spot in the playing XI during IPL 2022 and he kept contributing with his short but impressive innings. It all changed in 2023 when he hit five sixes off the last five balls to help KKR register a memorable win against Gujarat Titans
Rinku’s impressive performance earned him a place in India’s T20 squad against Ireland and the left-hander hasn’t looked back since then as he keeps on contributing in every match with the bat and in the field
Yashasvi Jaiswal
They say Mumbai is the city of dreams and the saying is certainly true for India’s new left-handed opening sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal. Before his heroics in the Test series against England Jaiswal had shown the sparks of an aggressive batter who likes to take on the bowlers which was on show during the 1000 IPL match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede. Although Rajasthan lost the match Yashasvi caught everyone’s attention with his blistering century which was the icing on the cake on an already promising career. His sensational run of form in IPL combined with an impressive First Class record earned Yashasvi a place in India’s Test squad for the series against West Indies where he scored a century on debut and continued the good form in the T20 format
Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill played a vital role in helping India win the 2018 Under 19 World Cup with his innings against Pakistan in the semi-final of the tournament being the talk of the town. The right-hander’s consistent performance in the multination tournament was enough to earn him an IPL contract with KKR in 2018. Despite Shubman scoring runs consistently for the team his low strike rate remained a cause of concern which led to him getting released by KKR ahead of the 2022 IPL auction. The turning point in Gill’s career came when he was picked by GT the same year and made the most of the opportunity by guiding his team to their maiden IPL title in their debut season.
But the best of Gill was still to come as the right-hander went on to score more than 800 runs in IPL 2023 thereby continuing his good form which he had shown earlier that year in the series against New Zealand. Although Gill has found the going tough in the longest format but he is slowly and steadily making a name for himself as a batter who can be relied upon while chasing totals in the fourth innings
