With the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) still eight months away, discussions around team tactics and player transfers are already gaining momentum. The trade window for the IPL opened immediately after the end of the 2025 season, and since then, a number of star names have been brought up in initial trade discussions.
Among the most speculated names are three Indian players who may don new shirts in IPL 2026 – Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Venkatesh Iyer.
Sanju Samson to CSK?
There’s a rumour swirling that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are making a big trade, with the target being Sanju Samson, the current captain of Rajasthan Royals. With MS Dhoni set to retire from playing ahead of next season, CSK is said to be seeking a capable and experienced Indian wicketkeeper-batter and Samson appears to be the perfect fit for the role.
As per various reports, there have been ongoing discussions between the two teams in the past, and the transaction could take place before the commencement of the next season if everything goes as planned.

Ishan Kishan in KKR’s Sights
Following his appearance for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2025 campaign, in which he scored 354 runs in 14 games, Ishan Kishan is also rumoured to be on the transfer list. It is indicated that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are interested in acquiring the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter to add strength to their top order.
With KKR keen on strengthening their batting and adding depth to their wicketkeeper options, Kishan has become a strong contender for an off-season trade.
Venkatesh Iyer Might Join SRH
On the opposite side of that ledger is Venkatesh Iyer, who had a very underwhelming campaign with KKR. Even though he was acquired for a total of Rs 23.75 crore, Iyer managed only 142 runs at an average of about 21 in IPL 2025.
Reports suggest that Sunrisers Hyderabad are looking for an Indian all-round domestic player, someone who can provide value with both bat and ball, and Iyer is beleived to be on their shopping list. A possible swap deal of Iyer to SRH in exchange for Kishan to KKR has been rumoured.
