Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami has officially been traded from Sunrisers Hyderabad to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, joining LSG at his existing salary of Rs 10 crore.

Shami, who has featured in 119 IPL matches across several teams, has picked up 133 wickets with best figures of 4/11. He claimed the Purple Cap in 2023 with 28 wickets for Gujarat Titans and played a key role in their title-winning campaign, although he missed the 2024 season due to injury.

His 2025 stint with SRH was below expectations, managing only six wickets at an economy rate of 11.23. Currently delivering strong performances for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, Shami will be hoping that a solid IPL 2026 season helps put him back in contention for an India comeback.

Lucknow Super Giants are preparing for big changes ahead of the IPL 2026 retention deadline. The franchise is expected to keep young fast-bowling star Mayank Yadav and bring in experienced pacer Mohammed Shami from Sunrisers Hyderabad in an all-cash deal worth about Rs 10 crore.

Even though Mayank has been out for a long period following back surgery, LSG still considers him a rare talent and wants to support his return.

On the other hand, Ravi Bishnoi and David Miller are likely to be released after patchy performances. With Bharat Arun overseeing the pace group, LSG plans to strengthen its bowling attack before the mid-December mini-auction.

Lucknow Super Giants are focusing on rebuilding their pace attack by retaining Mayank Yadav and bringing in Mohammed Shami from Sunrisers Hyderabad in a full-cash deal worth around Rs 10 crore.

Even with Mayank’s injury troubles, LSG believes he is a rare fast-bowling talent and worth investing in. With Bharat Arun guiding the bowling group, the franchise is determined to strengthen its pace department after last season’s issues.
