IPL 2026 Mini-Auction: Only a few days are left before the mini-auction of the IPL 2026 season takes place in Abu Dhabi, but the IPL has managed to spark some confusion by taking back nine players who were added to the list on December 9. The nine players, who are a mixture of six Indians and three international stars, had increased the list from 350 to 359 players, but now, on Saturday, December 13, they are nowhere to be found.
The list of the six Indian players who are to be added are Mani Sankar Mura Singh, Chama Milind, K.L. Shrijith, Swastik Chikara, Rahul Raj Namala, and Virat Singh, with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. Mani Sankar Mura Singh, who hails from Tripura, is a mature campaigner who is known for his power-hitting skills, while Swastik Chikara, who currently performs for RCB, managed to impress with his performances in the local leagues even though he did not have a chance to play in a match. Virat Singh, from Jharkhand, has the IPL experience of playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The international signings included Malaysia all-rounder Virandeep Singh, who has over 3,000 T20 runs and 105 wickets, with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. Eathan Bosch from South Africa and Chris Green from Australia rounded off the list with a base price of ₹75 lakh.
Initially, over a thousand players had registered for the IPL mini-auction in 2026. The IPL short-listed 350 players on the basis of franchise interest. The reason for the addition of these nine players at such a late stage, which has now been reversed abruptly, has not been explained by the IPL. It’s now leaving everyone from the common viewer to experts flummoxed with barely a couple of days left before the mini-auction on December 16 at Etihad Arena.
Although the mini-auction is set to be a highly competitive event with 77 slots available, this latest development has brought a certain degree of unpredictability to the situation. IPL followers are now waiting with bated breath to see how the final list shapes up, with teams set to plan on how to acquire the best T20 talent for the 2026 season.
