The start dates of the next three seasons of the Indian Premier League(IPL) have been announced. According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the 2025 season of the T20 extravaganza will start from March 14. IPL 2025 final will be played on May 25. There will be 74 matches in IPL 2025. Meanwhile, IPL 2026 will be played between March 15 and May 31 and the IPL 2027 will be held between March 14 and May 30.
As per the report, an email was sent by IPL to the franchises on Thursday. The dates announced for the three seasons have been termed as windows but they may become the official dates too.
The report further says that many overseas players have received the green signal from their country’s boards to participate in the upcoming three seasons of IPL. Players from Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, South Africa, New Zealand and West Indies will be fully available in all three seasons. Cricket Australia (CA) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have allowed all its players to participate in IPL 2025.
IPL 2025 Player Auction
The player auction for the IPL 2025 season is set to be held on 24th and 25th November, 2024, in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah.
A total of 574 players will go under the hammer for a chance to play in the grand T20 extravaganza. The list of players to be auctioned includes 48 Capped Indian players and 193 Capped Overseas players. The highest reserve price in the auction is Rs 2 Crore and 81 players have chosen the bracket to start with.
Superstar Players like Rishabh Pant, Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Trent Boult, Wanindu Hasaranga will have their fates decided during the auction event.
