Why Was IPL Suspended
BCCI (Board of Control Cricket In India) has made a decision to stop the current 18th edition of IPL for 7 days due to existing differences between India and Pakistan. The BCCI stopped IPL for a week after PBKS vs DC match at HPCA Stadium Dharamsala was suspended half way due to mounting tensions between India and Pakistan and the stadium was evacuated immediately post blackout.

Will This Ceasefire Violation Affect IPL
The competition halted after surge in cross-border tension. With the improvement in the situation, BCCI has started to make plans to restart the tournament. Due to this violation of ceasefire by Pakistan the start of IPL 2025 will be delayed since the existing tension is threatening to increase further; the role of BCCI in the decision-making might be minimised in absence of settlement of the ongoing conflict. The final decision would only be made after approval by the government and the stakeholders.
The Current Situation Of IPL Points Table
Now that IPL is close to wrapping up, things are getting heated for securing a spot within the league. At the top of the standings is GT, who have won 8 out of 11 games, collecting 16 points, playing with ease. RCB are not too far behind and report the same number of wins (8) and points as GT but also impressive momentum with 4 wins in their last 5 matches. PBKS occupy the third position with 15 points in 11 matches, and one result equalling a no-result. With 14 points from 12 matches and four successive wins from the last five matches, MI are in the fourth place.
