IPL 2025 was postponed for a week due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. However, the tournament is now set to resume from May 17, and the BCCI has released a revised schedule for the remaining 17 matches.
The first match after the resumption will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), while the final is scheduled for June 3. Currently, seven teams remain in contention for the playoffs, while three teams have been eliminated. For two other teams, it’s a do-or-die situation, with any further loss potentially ending their campaign.
The Current Points Table
Gujarat Titans and RCB lead the IPL 2025 points table with 16 points each, followed closely by Punjab Kings (15 points) and Mumbai Indians (14 points).

Playoff Battle Intensifies
Gujarat Titans (GT) are currently leading the IPL 2025 points table. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) occupy the second spot, followed by Punjab Kings (PBKS) in third and Mumbai Indians (MI) in fourth.
GT and RCB both have 16 points, and a single win for either team would ensure qualification for the playoffs. Punjab Kings, with 15 points, are also just one win away from securing their spot.
Meanwhile, there’s a close battle between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals (DC). MI have 14 points from 12 matches, while DC have 13 points from 11 matches. To qualify, Mumbai must win both remaining games, while Delhi need to win all three of their remaining fixtures.
Do-or-Die for KKR and LSG
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are in a precarious position, currently sitting in sixth and seventh place, respectively. KKR have won 5 out of 12 matches and lost 7, whereas, LSG have played 11 matches, winning 5 and losing 6.
A single defeat could eliminate either team from playoff contention. KKR’s upcoming match is against RCB on May 17. If KKR lose, their journey in IPL 2025 will officially end.
