History was made at the IPL 2025 auction with star India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant breaking Shreyas Iyer’s record, who was picked by Punjab Kings for 26.75 crore and becoming the most expensive player ever. Lucknow Super Giants picked him up for Rs 27 crore. Kolkata Knight Riders went all out for Venkatesh Iyer and roped him in for Rs 23.75 crore. A total of 84 players (72 sold and 12 unsold) went under the hammer on Day 1.

The IPL being the premier cricketing event in India after the World Cup, every Indian athlete aspires to be a part of this distinguished tournament. The Prize money for the winner of the IPL is 20 crores but it seems that some players are even pricier than trophy. Players such as Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Heinrich Klaasen, Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran have breached the 20 crore mark.
Virat Kohli has been retained by The Royal Challenger Bangalore with 21 crores, Kolkata Knight Riders went all out for Venkatesh Iyer and roped him in for Rs 23.75 crore, Lucknow Super Giants picked star India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant up for Rs 27 crore. Indian Batter Shreyas Iyer has been picked up by Punjab Kings for 26.75 crores. South-African batter, Heinrich Klaasan has been retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for 23 crores and West Indian Nicholas Pooran was also retained by Lucknow Super Giants for 21 crores.
