IPL 2025: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are gearing up for the upcoming season with five retained players: Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, and uncapped talents Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni.

KL Rahul’s Future Uncertain

While LSG holds on to those players, KL Rahul, who has been captain of the franchise since their formation in 2022, is unlikely to be retained. A late change may prove the difference here, though as of now, one RTM card will lie free in the auction for LSG.

Cost Of Retentions

The retained player’s salaries have not been announced yet. However, according to the retention policy of IPL, LSG will face a deduction of INR 51 crores from their purse. If the overall amount for the five players exceeds the figure then the higher amount is subtracted from LSG’s INR 120 crore purse to shape their squad for IPL 2025.

Nicholas Pooran

Pooran was in promising form with the bat for Lucknow in 2024, not much behind Rahul in runs; has been acting captain and wicket-keeper in Rahul’s injury absence. The six-hitting specialist was bought before 2023 by LSG at INR 16 cr, more than twofold his initial price fetched as a youngster in IPL 2017 of INR 30 Lakhs.

Emerging Player: Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav surprised everyone with not one but two Player-of-the-Match awards from his first two IPL matches. His side strain managed to keep him out of contention for national selectors in only four matches, but LSG bought him for INR 20 lakhs in the 2024 auction.

Ravi Bishnoi Played Well Enough In The Season

Ravi Bishnoi, who was retained from the pre-auction days, has been one of the most consistent bowlers for LSG. He took the team to the playoffs in 2022 with 13 wickets at an economy rate of more than 8. In 2024, he had a bad season, but Bishnoi is an important player for the franchise.

Promising Uncapped Players: Mohsin Khan And Ayush Badoni

These players are Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni. In 2022, these two were procured by the team for 20 lakhs. Being a sharp-aggressive batsman, his best season goes in the records of 2023 as he scored a strike rate of 138 runs out of 238 runs.

Mohsin stands 6’3 tall as a left-arm fast bowler. He created all eyes on him due to a fantastic debut when in 2022 he snatched 14 wickets along with an economy of just under six. He came again to play in 2024, and he just recovered from a serious injury and was good to go.

It was truly in line with what would happen, and they did all that to set themselves ready for the coming season with a competitive squad, holding on to many valuable players; looking forward to IPL 2025, it is very serious. Closer the auction process comes, a strategic move in this regard will further fortify their lineup for IPL 2025.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
