IPL 2025: The 18th edition of IPL 2025 is going to start from March 22 (Saturday). The first match of the season will be played between last year’s champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). According to a Cricbuzz report, the opening match of the 18th season will be played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. In which RCB will play under the leadership of its new captain Rajat Patidar.
Last year’s runner-up team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will also start its campaign from home ground. SRH’s first match will be against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, March 23 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. This match will be played in the afternoon.

Official Announcement Of The Schedule Is Awaited
The complete schedule of IPL 2025 remains a topic of discussion among cricket fans and franchises. Although BCCI has not yet released the official schedule, according to sources, the board has shared the dates of some key matches with the franchises. According to reports, the final match will be played on Sunday, May 25 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Earlier, at the BCCI Special General Meeting (SGM) held in Mumbai on January 12, vice-president Rajeev Shukla had indicated that the IPL would begin from March 23. However, now the board has decided to start it from March 22, which has been revised at the request of broadcasters.
Matches Will Also Be Played At New Venues
In IPL 2025, apart from the 10 regular venues, matches will also be played at some new venues. This time matches will be held in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Mullanpur, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata and Hyderabad as well as Guwahati and Dharamshala. Rajasthan Royals (RR) has chosen Guwahati as its second home ground. Two matches will be played here on 26 and 30 March, in which the Rajasthan team will play against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. At the same time, some home matches of Punjab Kings will also be played in Dharamshala. If sources are to be believed, this time this ground in Himachal Pradesh can get the hosting of three matches.
Playoff Venues Also Decided
As per the pre-decided schedule, Qualifier-1 and Eliminator matches will be played in Hyderabad, while Qualifier-2 and the final match will be held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The full schedule of IPL 2025 is likely to be released in a day or two. Fans are eagerly waiting for this exciting season.
