Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Jiostar is rebranding its sports broadcasting and planning to launch multiple regional sports in standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) in a joint venture between Reliance Industries, Disney, and Bodhi Tree, according to a report published by The Economic Times.
The Sport18 name will be changed to Star Sports during the rebranding process. Similarly five existing sports18 channels will go under rebranding to strengthen Star Sports in the country.
The channels formerly known as Sports18 1 will be renamed as Star Sports 2 Hindi. Similarly, Sports18 2 will be identified as Star Sports 2 Telugu, while Sports18 3 will change to Star Sports 2 Tamil, according to the report. Sports18khel will be identified as Star Sports Khel.
HD Versions
Star Sports 2 Hindi HD, Star Sports 2 Telugu HD, and Star Sports 2 Tamil HD. These channels will launch on March 15, 2025, for premium users.

23 channels in SD and HD format.
Will be available in several languages.
Additionally, Colours Rishtey and Star Utsav will be free-to-air (FTA).
Discontinued channels
Nine channels will be discontinued: Comedy Central SD and HD, VH1 SD and HD, MTV Beats SD and HD, Bindass, Colours Odia, and Star Kiran HD, the news report said. In the joint venture, the JioStar will manage a total of 130 paid and FTA channels in both SD and HD quality. 83 broadcaster packs will include an FTA pack of six channels.
