IPL 2025: After playing a match-winning knock against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) explosive left-hander Nicholas Pooran opened up about his approach to batting and the mindset behind his big-hitting game.
Pooran was in sensational form at the Ekana Stadium on Saturday, smashing 61 runs off just 34 balls. His innings featured seven towering sixes and a solitary four, striking at an impressive rate of 179.41. Thanks to his fireworks and a solid contribution from Aiden Markram, LSG handed Gujarat Titans their first loss in five matches and picked up their fourth win of the season.

Pooran Talks About His Goal
Speaking after the game, the 29-year-old made it clear that while big hits are exciting, winning is the ultimate goal.
“It’s not really about the hat-trick of sixes or flashy shots—it’s about getting the team over the line,” Pooran said. “The pitch today was a dream for batters, and we knew as a unit that we had the depth and form to pull this off. The communication was simple: build partnerships and play smart. Aiden carried on beautifully, and while Mitch wasn’t playing, Rishabh stepped up to open.”

When asked about his powerful hitting, Pooran shared a bit of insight—but kept some of the mystery alive.
“Honestly, I even surprise myself sometimes,” he laughed. “When I catch the ball cleanly in the middle of the bat, it’s about adjusting the swing and trusting the feel. But I won’t give away all my secrets—if I do, bowlers will figure me out!”
Emphasized About Adjustments
He emphasized the importance of picking his moments wisely. “For me, it’s not just about hitting sixes. It’s about understanding the situation—knowing when to go big and when to hold back. Batting at number three means sometimes you have to anchor, and other times you have to take the game on.”
On targeting GT spinner Sai Kishore, Pooran said, “That was a matchup I was ready for. I had to be brave and take the risk. It could’ve gone either way—it’s a big ground, and those shots can easily go straight to a fielder. But today, it worked.”
