IPL 2025: BCCI’s Robot Dog Sparks Trademark Dispute With Iconic ā€˜Champak’ Comic

A robot dog known as ‘Champak’ which debuted at Indian Premier League showcases trouble in its life outside the cricket field. Champak magazine’s editor chose to sue the BCCI for using the same title. Robot Dog first appeared at IPL 2025 for entertainment and enjoyable experiences. Robot Dog made an initial appearance in a DC vs MI game that took place in Delhi.

What Is The Legal Trouble

The people from the comic book ‘Champak’ filed a legal complaint against it. The Delhi High Court received a protest from Delhi Press Patra Prakashan regarding the trademark violation of using the same name ‘Champak’ for the robot dog. The owners of the Champak comic believe their brand could be confused by children and other people because of its wide recognition as a well-known comic character. A court warning was sent to BCCI which required them to respond to the claim. The IPL robot generates excitement among fans with its creative stunts along with captivating camera techniques yet this entertaining legal contest will determine its future naming status.
