IPL 2025: Team India’s all-rounder and the old member of the Delhi Capitals Axar Patel named as the skipper of the side after having a tough captaincy battle between him and KL Rahul.
The 31-year-old cricketer from Gujarat was retained for Rs 18 crore by DC ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega-Auction. Axar was DC’s vice-captain in IPL 2024 and also had the chance to lead the team in one game.

With this, Axar becomes the 14th captain of Delhi Capitals. Last time, it was Rishabh Pant who changed his base to Lucknow Super Giants in the Mega Auction.

In his 7th season with the Delhi Capitals, the 31-year-old Axar, who has played 150 IPL matches, scored 1653 runs at a strike rate of nearly 131 and took 123 wickets at an economy rate of 7.28.
